The Cloud Advantage of a VOIP Phone Service

Cloud Technology: Big Benefits for Small Business VOIP

Chances are, you have heard about cloud technology, but you may not be familiar with the concept or its benefits. The term Cloud simply means a technology system that allows a service such as phone communications to be hosted on an off-site computer and run from your business via the Internet. For phone systems in particular, VoIP (or Voice over Internet Protocol) is one such cloud technology. In fact, the advent of VoIP is a welcome alternative to expensive PBX (Private Branch Exchange) systems designed to run on the outdated copper wire and cable line networks of the local phone and cable companies. But those aren’t the only benefits; the traditionally high costs of ownership, including installation, IT maintenance and complicated updating of wire or cable line systems, are now a thing of the past when you switch to cloud technology.

Finally a Phone System Designed for a Very Small Business

Yet the biggest benefit of cloud technology is the economies of scale it delivers to start-ups and very small businesses. Phone system features that used to be available only on expensive PBX systems provided by the phone company are now available and at much lower cost today through the cloud. No longer do business owners have to pay high phone company bills to get the phone system features they want or settle for cheaper cable company alternatives that are really designed for residential-consumer use and that typically don’t have the features needed to run a small business or home-based office effectively. This leads to another great advantage of the cloud: FLEXIBILITY. Since it’s hosted off-site, you have the ability to choose only the features best suited for your business needs. Plus, you have the ability to change features or add additional phone handsets as you need them.
